'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Howard 'proud' to 'name' the stadium

Rotherham United's Honorary Ambassador and World Cup referee, Howard Webb was given the honour of announcing that the new stadium would be called New York and told Radio Sheffield that he felt a great sense of pride at being given this job.

'As a lifelong supporter of Rotherham United I am absolutely thrilled to be able to announce the name for the new stadium,' the Rotherham born ref said. 'Rotherham United is my hometown club that I have supported all my life. The Millers are responsible for my interest in the game. To become involved with the cub was a huge honour, and now to be here, whilst the club stands on the verge of this momentous new era, gives me a sense of great pride.'
