'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Tongey looking forward to Macclesfield

Rotherham United defender Dale Tonge is quite looking forward to going to Moss Rose on Boxing Day, because it`s the place, three years ago, where he scored his first ever senior goal.

Speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser, the locally born player, said, 'Macclesfield obviously holds good memories for me and I always look forward to going back and, touch wood, I don`t usually have a bad game there and we usually win.

'It`s a tight ground and the pitch is lovely. There`s only usually a couple of thousand there but we take around half of them and there`s quite a bit of noise. Their fans are a chirpy bunch and give you a bit of stick but I don`t mind that.`

Speaking about the Christmas season, the twenty-six year old said, 'When you`re younger you want to have a normal Christmas Day and eat your pudding and things like that and you can`t. You just have to be professional about it and approach it like any other game and the older you get the more it becomes the norm.`

Speaking about the win last weekend against Wimbledon, Tongey said, 'It was exactly what we needed. It was a scrappy match and, although we didn`t play the best, we won and everyone was buzzing about the clean sheet.`
