RUFC - Brown praise from Scott

Rotherham United defender, Troy Brown was praised by his manager after coming on to replace Johnny Mullins on Boxing Day at Macclesfield.

Mullins seemed to take a knock to his face and was taken off looking very groggy and Brown came on as his replacement with Andy Scott saying he`d done well.

Speaking to The Star, Scott said, 'It`s some time since Troy played in the team but he`s trained ever so hard recently. You never know when you will be required but you have to be ready to go in.

'He`s taken everything on board that we`ve asked and he`s seen the defenders we`ve brought in and what they have been asked to do. The thing is, we know he can do it and he`s got other qualities as well.`

Troy joined the Millers in the summer from Ipswich Town but has only been involved in six games, scoring one goal against Barnet in a two-all draw at Don Valley. He has also been involved in the Welsh Under Twenty-One squad and, until Monday, hadn`t played for the Millers since the beginning of October.

'His performance at Macclesfield will give him a lot of confidence,` Scott said.

I'll be honest, I never really knew what Troy had done to be left out of the squad and, after Scott had 'lauded' him up when he brought him in, I was more than surprised when we started fetching in defenders on loan.
