'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Scott disappointed not to get anything

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott was a frustrated man after his side lost one-nil to second placed Cheltenham last night at Whaddon Road.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield Scott said, 'I think, on the balance of play the better side lost.

'We had some good opportunities but not hit the target and their first shot goes in. They had an effort that hit the post but I think Conrad (Logan) had that covered anyway and they had one from Garbutt in the first half from long distance and that was it. Their 'keeper made a fantastic save from Brett Williams and we had plenty of the ball and put it in some good areas but, again, we didn`t do enough of it.

'We started off really, really well and their first shot, which has come from distance found the bottom corner which was their only real opportunity. When we were pushing forward they broke clear but we coped reasonably well and got in some good areas attacking wise but maybe the actual run to get on the end of the ball wasn`t quite there.

'We`ve been looking a bit more solid defensively lately, only letting in one goal in three games, but it`s just come at the same time as our goals have dried up. But, we`ve got to take the positives out of tonight because we got the ball wide and attacked from width but we`ve got to keep wanting the ball, driving from it and keeping positive and the chances will come.

'They`ve got some good players and Mark (Yates) has got them working well but I`m still frustrated that we haven`t got anything out of the game because we certainly should have at least got a point. They`re a good side but I think we`ve probably shown them how good we are as well and we`ve got to just keep believing.`

Asked about any injuries after the game, Scott said, 'John Harley is suffering from a bit of illness which I think affected his performance a bit tonight., but, other than that, there`s just the normal bumps and bruises of League Two football. We`ll get them in now and start to prepare for Monday. We`ve had some good performances over the last ten games and we are disappointed that we haven`t taken anything out of tonight let alone win it. But, we`ve got to forget about that now and learn from our mistakes and keep believing what we are doing is the right thing.`
