RUFC - Scott Happy to Capture Chelsea 'Keeper

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott was happy to have signed goalkeeper, Rhys Taylor on a months loan from Chelsea, although it was only cleared for him to play in yesterday`s three-nil win over Bradford hours before kick-off.

Welsh born Rhys joined Chelsea as a Youth player and, although he has mostly played in the Youth Team and Reserves for the Premiership club, he`s also been on the bench for the first team on a few occasions. He has had loan spells with Queens Park Rangers and Crewe Alexandra and has U17, U19 and U21 caps for Wales.

Speaking to the Official Site yesterday, Scott said, 'We`ve spoke to him a couple of times and to Neil Bath (Academy Manager) at Chelsea so it`s been ticking along for a while. We agreed a deal but it was just whether the Premier League would ratify it before the game and it was a quarter to one before we got notice that they had.

'He`s a good young 'keeper who played forty-nine games for Crewe last season so he understands the league. We`ll see how he does, if he likes it and fits in and see what we can do.

'Clearly, with just the one 'keeper we had to bring someone in and we are delighted that Chelsea have allowed us this young goalkeeper because he`s got a lot of potential and league experience.`
