'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Rhys wants games

Rotherham United goalkeeper, Rhys Taylor says that he enjoyed his first game for the Millers.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after helping the Millers to a win over Bradford City at Don Valley, the Under Twenty-One Welsh 'keeper said, 'I was hoping to get a move as soon as possible and Andy (Scott) spoke to my agent and it was sorted straight away. When he was manager at Brentford we used to play our Reserve games there so that might have made him think of me. He's a young manager and, from what I've seen, he's really positive and got a reaction out of the lads this afternoon. When you look at Bradford's form I think we outplayed them today. I think they only had one or two shots and we looked composed on the ball and played a bit of football which is always nice.

'I enjoyed it. There was a bit of kicking and a few clearing up bits and it's always nice to get a clean sheet and, more importantly, a win.'

Rhys isn't new to League Two, after having a season long loan with Crewe Alexandra last year, and said, 'If you can play in this league you can play in any in the world. I knew, from last season, that Rotherham were always a top club in this league and they are after promotion. I think you need to be consistent and to be a seven out of ten every week and that will get you promoted and, at the end of the day, clean sheets win you games. I've kept an eye on Rotherham over the last few weeks, knowing that I might be coming here, and I always keep track of Crewe because I've got some good mates there.'

Asked about his future with Premiership Chelsea, Rhys said, 'I'm not going to re-new my contract at the end of the season. I think it's time for me to get out and play some games instead of training every day and playing with the Reserves. That's not good enough for me because I want to play week in week out and I'm not happy to sit there and take the money. I want to do something with my career wherever that may take me.

'I'm glad to be playing and want to keep doing that as long as possible and I want to play my games here and help Rotherham do as well as I can.'
