RUFC - Players get weekend off

Rotherham United players are having the weekend off. Not appearing in the FA Cup and the league game with Gillingham being postponed, the Millers are gameless this weekend giving them the chance of a rest.

Manager, Andy Scott said, 'They've worked hard since the Bradford game and they'll have a couple of days off over the weekend, recharge the batteries and come back Monday in what will be an important build up to the Swindon game and then Port Vale.'

But there is, as they say, no rest for the wicked and Scott and his staff won't be getting anytime off. 'We're all lined up to go and watch games - my battery died on my 'phone yesterday because I'd been on it so much!' said Scott.

'January is a horrible month to be a manager and there will be no rest for me, but it's always like that and it's part and parcel of the job. Everything is condensed into such a short space of time that' you've got to do the work early to make sure you've got yourself in order.

'Not having a game this weekend means you have more time to look around and you aren't put under any pressure to make decisions. We can take our time and get the right deals instead of rushing them through and making mistakes not that I was planning on doing that anyway.

'Sam Wood and Jon Harley have done well for us and we are obviously looking at their situation but we have to have contingency plans in case they fall through and others are available.'
