'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Sam pleased to be back

Rotherham United's Sam Wood told Radio Sheffield that he was looking forward to the challenge he has of helping the Millers get promotion.

'The main thing is that I'll hopefully be playing games and I want to carry on scoring goals and assisting as well,' Sam said.

'I went back to being a Brentford player although I knew there were talks between the clubs but I didn't worry about it because that's what I've got an agent for. It's always nice to feel wanted and to come to a club that has opening arms and so I'm not coming to a club where I don't know anyone and so I think it was the right choice for me.'

Asked if he thought a loan back here was the best thing for him at the moment, the twenty-five year old said, 'I've always been a London boy so moving up North is something totally different for me and so to commit to something more permanent might have been the wrong decision. Now, I've got until the end of the season to get to grips with it and, if it doesn't work out, I can always go back and if it does work out then there may be a chance of extending. My contract is up with Brentford at the end of the season so it's not likely that I'll be offered anything there and, if I do really well here and also if we get promotion, they might want to keep me for next season.

'When Scotty (Andy Scott) first signed me Brentford were in League Two and we got promoted so I know what to do. And we are strengthening the squad and, with the squad we've got here, it's going to be a good end to the season. We can beat any team in this league. We've had the performances but now we need to take our chances and keep clean sheets.

'I want to repay Andy Scott because he's given me another chance to play games at pro level because, I don't think at Brentford, I'd have got as many games.'

Asked what he thought about the game against Swindon Town coming up on Saturday, Sam said, 'I don't worry about them, I want them to worry about me.'
