RUFC - Scott 'got to approach games better'

Join The Vital Debate

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott told MillersPlayer that the squad had worked very hard in training so far this week.

'We are getting to a point now where we have got to approach games in a better way,' Scott said. 'There's been too many games this season where we've spent the first forty-five minutes wasting our time and the second forty-five producing the performance that we know we can. And, against the better sides we are getting punished which we warned them about before the game, but they still couldn't do it properly. Everyone saw in the second half how good we can be but we need to show that from the outset.

'We've reiterated points that we've been making all the time this week and we've changed training a little bit so that every session we are doing incorporates exactly what we want to do all the time so it becomes ingrained in them. They are going to have to take it on board and take every training session into games as well.'

Asked if he was looking to change the personnel in the side, Scott said, 'Well we've got all the squad to look at and we have other players we may have to bring in but defensively we've looked reasonably solid and Rhys (Taylor) didn't have any chance with the goals on Saturday and he made a couple of good saves. The back four seem to be playing pretty well. We've got options and there are areas we clearly need to strengthen and we need individuals who can do it for ninety minutes.

'The players know there are still errors they need to work on and, until we are keeping clean sheets every week, there are obviously areas we need to improve.'
