'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Scott 'been a long road for Johnny'

Rotherham United defender, Johnny Mullins, was perhaps the only player who came out of last Saturday's game with any praise - from both fans and Management.

Speaking about the twenty-six year old, Manager, Andy Scott said, He was fantastic on Saturday. I think his partnership with Raynesy (Michael Raynes) is improving and we need everybody in front of them to do their jobs as well.

'It's been a long road for him. I've think everyone underestimates the extent of the injury he had and the work he had to put in.

'He came back into the side and played a lot of games because of necessity because of injuries and suspensions. The juice was running out of him at one bit and he needed to recharge his batteries but we gave him a couple of days off and since he's been back in he's gone from strength to strength and long may that continue.

'Defensively, at the start of the season, we were slack and but we look like we're tightening that up now. We've brought Richard Naylor in who is pushing for a start and we've got to get back to terms of where we were going forward with the intensity and the pace and quality like we did before. Hopefully Scott Griffiths will be available on Saturday which will give us another body and Sam Wood's natural position isn't at left-back and I'm going to ask him to move forward.

'Richard Naylor is a steadying influence. In training he does the right thing and gets on with the job. He talks to people and influences people in a positive way and he's got a lot of knowledge and experience in different situations that he can pass on to players. On top of that he's a good player.'
