'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - There have been enquiries for players

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott says that there have been some enquiries about his players.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield, Scott said, 'We've had several enquiries for players both those who have been and haven't been playing.

'The ones who are playing aren't going to go anywhere unless it's a good deal for the club. The ones who aren't playing obviously don't want to play and you can't force them out of the door but players who are out of contract are obviously very keen to be one of the eight hundred and odd who will be looking for jobs in the summer.

'Having spent time not playing games it's going to be a tough summer for them. Some of them have got the opportunity to go and play football now at a decent level and with good clubs but obviously don't feel like that's the right thing for them. That's up to them. I'm not going to force them out.

'I loved playing football and I wasn't prepared just to sit around and do nothing but if they want to sit on their backsides doing nothing they won't be doing it here. I will be making sure they are going to be working hard for their money. At the end of the season if they don't get a club then they have no-one to blame but themselves.

'They still join in training and their attitude in training is terrific and I've got no issue at all about that. But people come and say to me that they want to go out on loan and play games and when the opportunity comes to do that it suddenly becomes 'well, I don't want to go there I want to go somewhere I want to go' and that's the attitude of a lot of footballers at a lot of clubs now. It's too easy to not do your job. Your job is a footballer so go and play football.'

Brett Williams' loan is up at the end of the month and Scott was asked if there was any news on the twenty-four year old striker.

'I haven't spoken to Brian (McDermott) yet,' the Millers manager said. 'Brian was always going to speak to me a week or so before his loan was due to expire.

'He's kept an eye on him and been seeing what he was doing and we will have that conversation in the next week or so.'
