RUFC - Millers expect fan increase next season

Rotherham United are expecting to see a sixty per cent gate increase when they move into the New York Stadium at the start of next season.

It`s common knowledge that clubs who move into new grounds see a rise in attendances with the 'floating` supporters coming for a look and away supporters wanting to go to a new ground. And, for the Millers, it also means that they are moving back into Rotherham and out of Sheffield which should fetch back some of the 'I`m not going to watch Rotherham in Sheffield` fans.

Speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser, Head of Commercial, Steve Lewis said, 'We have one thousand five hundred and eighty five season ticket holders at the moment and we are looking to increase that to around three thousand five hundred. Adding the match-to-match goers that will top up to in and around the six thousand mark.`

Season tickets are expected to start going on sale next month with admission prices pitched at a level that won`t price people out of coming and Steve continued, 'We have an ethos at this club to offer value for money and we want to give something back to the fan base that is more than just ninety minutes of football` (Ed note - actually ninety minutes of football would be a bonus at the moment! )

'The last six years have been difficult for this club,` Steve said, 'with two administrations, two relegations and losing it`s home so this new stadium will offer a new lease of life to each and every Miller.`
