'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Scott 'conditions weren't the problem'

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott said that, for the second week running, his team didn't deserve to win today's game.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the one-nil defeat to Port Vale, Scott said, 'If you don't put crosses in the box, don't shoot and don't keep the ball well you aren't going to win games. We work on things all week but didn't implement them so we lost the game.'

The conditions were terrible today at Don Valley as both teams played in a swirling wind but Scott said that they had nothing to do with the way the Millers lost today.

'It was a poor decision for the penalty. We didn't put pressure on the ball in the first instance when he got passed the player too easily and Tongey's come flying out and put in a rash tackle and it's a penalty.

'We didn't really create opportunities when we got in good areas from the start. We're too delayed putting balls into the box, we're passing sideways and we didn't put the ball in from areas when we had the opportunity to do that and when we did we didn't attack the ball as well as we can do. And that results in a loss.'

I have heard this speech before - "we work on things all week and then don't implement them". Why not??

Maybe because they have to face another team on matchdays!
