'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Chairman backs Scott 'one hundred per cent'

Rotherham United Chairman, Tony Stewart has given Manager, Andy Scott his backing.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield, Mr Stewart said, 'Andy Scott came to do a job and the work and effort from him and his backroom staff has been tremendous and they, and me, are as disappointed as the fans. He's only been here six months and he's put together a fit side and I am one hundred per cent behind him. He is putting a team together who will grow and develop together.'

Asked if there had been any thoughts of changing the Manager, Mr Stewart said, 'No.

'I go to watch training and see the effort put in but I'd like to see it transferred onto the pitch. We are five points off the play-offs with a game in hand and there are twenty games to go so the opportunities are still there. The team are physically fit, mentally wise I don`t know, I'm no psychiatrist.

'We are taking them to show them round the new stadium today and explain about the move from Don Valley to the New York Stadium and I will tell them that I want them to be part of that and hope that they are here for the long fix.

'I will say that there is 'No Panic' although there is concern but we want the fans behind us. I hope lady luck comes our way now and we start to get results. It's not over until it's over and I've no doubts that there will be teams above us and below us who will have bad spots like we have.'
