'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Chairman 'It's not a panic situation'

Rotherham United Chairman Tony Stewart gave Manager, Andy Scott, the 'dreaded vote of confidence after last Saturday`s loss to Port Vale at Don Valley.

With radio phone-in`s, message boards and social networking sites full of 'Scott Out`, Mr Stewart backed his manager one hundred per cent.

Speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser this week, Mr Stewart said, 'Andy Scott works harder than any other manager I have worked with at Rotherham and we need to put things into perspective. We are five points off the play-offs with a game in hand and twenty games to go.

'Yes, I`m impatient and yes, I want what the fans want, but we are in a position to go higher and we need them to stick with us. It`s not a panic situation but we do need to see results for the hard work soon. The important thing is to stay positive and get behind the team.

'I`m a realist. We aren`t fulfilling our ambitions and that`s a disappointment, not just to the manager but to board of directors as well.

'This is a long term fix not a short fix and I`m in it for the long haul. The steps have been higher than I thought and sometimes it can be ugly but we are still climbing as a club and we will not fail - we are going to do it.`
