RUFC - Scott looking to emergency loan

Rotherham United Manager Andy Scott says he was frustrated after not getting the players he wanted on loan before the transfer window shut.

Speaking to MillersPlayer, Scott said, 'We were pretty close to getting someone in. We were pursuing a couple of players who we thought could strengthen the squad and we nearly got them. Both were from higher divisions and one of them went to a club higher than us and the other decided to stay where he was. It was frustrating because we were confident we'd be able to strengthen the squad and didn't quite get there.

'We've got four loans at the moment and we have to make sure that the next one we bring in is the right one. In two-and-a-half weeks time we can bring Marshy (Marcus Marshall) back from Macclesfield so he will strengthen the squad and once he's back and we've got our injuries back, plus we might be able to bring one in next week, that should give us the strength for what we need to do for the next part of the season.

'The emergency loan window opens next week where we can strengthen the squad. More players become available when that opens because, after twenty eight days, the clubs can call them back.'

Asked if there were any offers for Lewis Grabban, Scott said, 'There were a few phone calls and the answer was the same as it has been that he wasn't going anywhere, certainly not this season. I think our commitment to him and his to us is showing. I spoke to the Chairman yesterday and he's more than happy that we've kept him and he has to be applauded for taking that stance. We're making sure that we are planning for the future and Lewis is part of that.'
