RUFC - Scott admits interest in Hawley

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott has admitted that he was after striker, Karl Howey was one of the two strikers he was trying to sign before the transfer deadline day ended.

Speaking to Les Payne of The Star, Scott said, 'We were looking for a permanent deal and nearly got there. We were interested in Hawley and there are not too many available who have a proven League Two scoring record.

'We want someone who can play with Revs (Alex Revell) and Grabbs (Lewis Grabban), either as an individual or as a group.`

In the end Howey moved from Notts County to League Two rivals Crawley Town.

Asked about Brett Williams who had been with the Millers from Reading since the end of August, but who wasn`t allowed to stay longer, Scott said, 'I spoke to Brian McDermott about Brett and he felt that in view of the fact that Brett wasn`t getting a regular start, he may as well return to his club and I can understand that.`
