RUFC - Scott 'Lewis was going nowhere'

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott, was never in any doubt that top striker, Lewis Grabban would stay with the Millers.

While the January transfer window was still open, Millers fans were fearing that they would be left with just one recognised striker as reports saying that Crawley Town plus others were showing an interest in the twenty-four year old former Millwall player and, we were told, that two bids had been rejected.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Scott said, 'We want clubs to be interested in him because that shows that he is doing what we have asked him to do but Lewis is committed to us until the end of the season. Then we will re-assess his situation.

'Having spoken to Lewis he understands that if he performs as well in the second-half of the season as he did in the first then there will be bigger and better clubs coming in for him during the summer, which will make it even harder for us to hold on to him. It is the opportunity for him to play regularly for the full season, rack up fifty plus games and score the twenty-five goals that he is capable of doing before hopefully playing for us at a higher level. If that happens then we will have a much better chance of keeping our players.`

Since joining the Millers in the summer, Lewis has made thirty-one appearances and scored fifteen goals.
