RUFC - Concerns for Tuesday Night

Join The Vital Debate

Rotherham United Chief Operating Officer, Paul Douglas might be hopeful that Friday evenings game at Southend will go ahead but he has concerns about the game with Accrington Stanley due to take place on Valentine's Day at Don Valley.

'The forecasts aren't good and, to be honest, we have concerns over the game at Don Valley.

'At the moment we still have the cover on at Don Valley and there is snow on the covers. Once the snow has melted a little bit we will get the covers off and get some air on the pitch. But, with the forecast for the next couple of nights to be pretty cold here we don't want to leave the pitch too exposed for too long.

'It's a difficult time and certainly don't want to be creating more games than we need to at this time of the season. There's enough Tuesday-Saturday's as it is without creating more.

'We've had two or three Reserve fixtures we've had to cancel with those games going to be used for players coming back from injury and give lads a chance to get some playing time who aren't playing regular first team football. So, every time we have to re-arrange one of them it does create a bit of a problem for us but, compared to the last couple of years, this has been quite an easy year to deal with. And, although there's plenty of winter left, fingers crossed we will get through it.'
