RUFC - Scott 'Shaun will enhance squad'

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott is pleased to have finally got his man.

The Millers Manager was 'after' the striker in the summer and speaking to MillersPlayer today, after the twenty-seven year old joined from Bury on a months' emergency deal, Scott said, 'I spoke about him in the summer but it was a deal we couldn't match and he went to Northampton. He then went to Bury and they've changed their formation and are playing one up front, and Shaun hasn't played as many games as he would have liked. I spoke to Richie (Barker) several weeks ago and we've managed to get it through and it's a good deal for us.

'Richie says his attitude in training is fantastic and he does extra work to try and keep himself fit. So we know he's been training regularly and he's a naturally fit lad. He's a very keen player and is honest and everyone we've spoken to says he's a terrific lad with a good attitude.

'Shaun is desperate to play games and he's very experienced in this league and is a proven goalscorer at this level and I'm delighted he's here. He's a player who will give us competition for places and will give us something a bit different to what we've got already and he could form a good relationship with both Revs (Alex Revell) and Grabbs (Lewis Grabban). Things didn't work out great for him at Northampton yet he still scored six goals in eighteen games for them.

'He's not going to be one hundred per cent fit and getting ninety minutes out of him is something we might have to push a little bit but I think he will be able to go straight into the side.

'We've bided our time a little bit but we feel we've got a player who will enhance the squad. He will work extremely hard for the team and he adds to the team not only goals but his work rate as well. He'll be a positive signing for us and hopefully he'll come in and have a big impact.

'I'm very pleased with him and he will fit in with what we are doing as well as benefiting him in the way we play.'
