'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - View from the Opposition - Southend

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott was delighted for his players after their two-nil win away at Southend on Friday night.

Southend Manager, Paul Sturrock though was angry with his players and said that for Monday's game with Gillingham he will pick eleven boys who will do as he tells them

Speaking to BluesPlayer, Sturrock said, 'Football at times is a very difficult game to understand and I have a set of football players who think they know better how the game should be played. All of a sudden people are believing that we should be playing this way and that way and I'm telling you now that there is a blank sheet in my room at this minute for the team selection on Monday and I will be picking eleven boys who will do as I tell them.

'Their goalie has made two fantastic saves. If we'd have scored first it would have been different but they scored first. I thought we did create chances in the first half but from start to finish of the second half we weren't at the races and it was completely and totally unacceptable.

'It's not a hiccough, it's a rut that we are in now. We are not holding the ball up front and we are not clearing the lines at the back and that's a recipe for disaster. Ten goals we've lost in four games which is unbelievable for us. Some of these players will pay the price by sitting in the dugout and the stand.

'I'm bitterly disappointed about it all.'
