'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Revs 'great result'

Rotherham United' striker, Alex Revell thought the team were magnificent on Friday night.

Speaking to MillersPlayer after scoring the second goal in the two-nil win against Southend, the twenty-eight year old said, 'Roots Hall is a tough place to come but we defended magnificently tonight.

'It was a great result tonight and I hope we can take that on into Tuesday because it will breed more confidence and, hopefully, kick us on for the rest of the season. As a whole collective team I think that it was our best performance of the season. It was difficult to run with the ball because of how hard the ground was, but, as a team I thought we were magnificent. We took our chances and, maybe in the second half, could have had a couple more.

'The gaffer told us to go out and enjoy it tonight and I think we showed that in our performance. The hardest thing now is to carry that on into our home form because that's been poor this year and we need to improve that.

'For the last three weeks in training we have been outstanding but we haven't taken that into the games which has been the most disappointing thing. But, now, hopefully, the hard work that we've all been putting in is paying off.

'I've always maintained that we've got a very good squad and we should be in the top six, well we should be in the top three, although it's easy to say that after a win. If we believe in ourselves and play like that week-in, week-out then we are going to win more than we lose.

Asked about his strike partner, Sean Harrad, Revs said, 'He only came in this week and you can't really ask for a better debut than that to start your career here. Grabbs (Lewis Grabban) has been magnificent this season but with Chrissie Holroyd going there was only me and Grabbs fit up front. So we brought Sean in and he performed magnificent today.

'Richard Naylor has come in at centre-half and I think him and Mulls (Johnny Mullins) have played really well at the back and Bradders (Mark Bradley) was outstanding against two tricky players. I just hope we can take this performance and take it onto the next game.

'We've got games thick and fast now which is probably the best thing for us.'
