Millers Reserves lose to Tigers

Rotherham United 0 Hull City 3

Rotherham United lost this game in the first half at Roundwood this afternoon with the Tigers second team scoring all their goals in the beginning forty-five minutes.

Starting brightly, City's Jamie Devitt saw a shot go wide and a shot from Dele Adebola was cleared before Andy Warrington, in the Millers' goal, managed to stop a shot from Liam Cooper and not long after Ben Pringle kicked the ball off the line from the same player. On eighteen minutes a challenge from Ryan Cresswell on Richard Garcia in the area was penalised and Mark Cullen scored from the spot. Two minutes later the visitors doubled their lead when Cullen found himself unmarked and headed home from close range. Garcia then had a shot that looked like it might go in but it was diverted away from goal by his own player, Cullen, to safety. Hull added a third before the end of the half when 'keeper Mark Oxley's, who is a product of the Millers Youth Squad, clearance found Garcia who in turn found Gavan Holohan  who curled a shot into the bottom corner to make it three-nil.

In the opening minutes of the second half Millers defender, Tom Newey, did well to block a shot from Josh King. After that it was all the Millers and Alec Denton looked like he had reduced the deficit but Oxley made a great one handed save to put the ball out. Mitchell Rose had a shot from the edge of the area that went wide before Warrington did well to stop a shot from Jamie Devitt. Liam Royles, on for Tom Brown, saw a shot come back off the foot of the post and Oxley made a save from veteran Paul Warne. In the final minutes Cullen perhaps should have had his hat-trick but put the ball over while, at the other end, Oxley made a good save from a Royles header.
