RUFC - Scott 'a point gained'

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott said that it was a point gained against Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium this afternoon.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the one-all draw today, Scott said, 'It was a good second half for us but I was just disappointed that we didn't have our tempo to our game in the first half. And, I was disappointed how we defended some things at the end but we were trying to win the game so had to leave ourselves a bit short at the back. The whole tempo of the game was at their tempo and not ours and we never really got going.

'They wanted to slow the game down and play up from the back but never really did it but while they were trying that, it was taking time to get the game going and we fell into that trap and didn't play the way we played with the energy and tempo like we did in the second half. And when we did look what happened, we were in charge, got the goal and had more chances. We were much more positive in the second half and it's away from home and it's a point gained.

'I just felt that we didn't play the way we played on Tuesday. We did so well then with people getting into space and driving with the ball and we had more composure on the ball. Today, in the first half we were giving the ball away sloppily when we could have held onto it and used it better.
'Away from home anywhere is tough but it's three games in a week and we've got seven points so it's a decent week. Burton are just behind us and you look at the results today and we haven't lost any ground on Oxford and when you see the results there are some very strange ones today which just shows this league is a tough league and any point away from home is a decent one.

'There were a couple of strange decisions from the referee today. With Jason Taylor's challenge, I didn't realise we were in Spain or Italy. We're in League Two and that's a great tackle. It's mens football and we would have been one on one with the goalkeeper then.

'I've said to the lads in there, I'm not really interested who we play and what formation they play and what players they've got, it's about us and what we do and if we do it well for ninety minutes we win the game but we've only done it for forty-five minutes today so a draw is probably a fair result in the end.

'There were some lads out there who haven't played three games in a week and who looked a little lethargic and we will look at Tuesday and see if we need to make changes to keep the freshness up.'
