RUFC - Johnson to reveal all

Former Rotherham United Chairman, Anton Johnson has written a book about his time in football, which will include his time with the Millers.

The book, Bungs, Boardrooms and Butchery, is out in April and the seventy-year old wants to 'put the record straight` at what happened at his time at Millmoor.

Mr Johnson was found guilty of breaching Football League regulations in 1985 and banned from ever becoming involved in football again while Rotherham, Bournemouth and Southend were all found guilty of being controlled by a person who was involved with more than one club. Yet, in August 1998, he was allowed to become a major shareholder at Scarborough FC and there was also an abortive attempt to buy Doncaster Rovers.

Speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser, Mr Johnson said, 'I am going to set the record straight of what really happened at Rotherham and I guarantee it will change people`s perceptions of me. I want to clear the air on a few things.

'I loved my time in Yorkshire and the Rotherham people. Contrary to speculation, the finances were not bad at the club and when I left it was in quite a healthy state.`

If nothing else it should be an interesting read - I`m not sure you`ll be able to actually believe anything it says though.

My memories of Anton Johnson are somewhat clouded by him 'running the Millers into the ground` - but I do remember him walking around in a big fur coat looking like a bear, summer and winter.

What about you - what are your memories of our former Chairman?
