'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Cress is back

Rotherham United skipper, Ryan Cresswell has been hit hard by injury since joining the Millers in the summer of 2010 but, after five months of sitting on the sidelines, he is fit and ready to return.

Speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser the twenty-four year old said, 'I shattered by collar bone and ruptured ankle ligaments. Some players don`t get one of those in a career yet I`ve had two in six months. The injuries have been bad luck but I`ve put all that behind me now.

'The first couple of months were frustrating but since the middle of December I`ve been training with the lads and managed to get a couple of reserve games in. '

Not having played since scoring against Torquay in September, Cress finally made his much awaited return last week, when he came off the bench in the one-all draw with Burton Albion.

It was good to get back in the fold on Saturday,` the former Sheffield United youth player said. 'The gaffer just said, 'good luck, do your stuff and make sure we don`t lose.`

'I feel like I`m getting back to fitness and obviously, minutes like Saturday`s will help me and, hopefully, I`ll be knocking on the door soon asking for a starting berth.`
