RUFC - Scott 'not good enough'

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott said the first forty-five minutes of today`s game against Bristol Rovers at Don Valley wasn't good enough.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the loss, Scott said, 'It never looked like we were going to create too many chances and looked like it was going to be a stalemate. We came out for the second half with more intensity and missed some fantastic chances then got done on the break at the end. They came for a point and went away with three.

'It was a sickener, but we didn't have enough quality on the ball in the game and that's what happens. Lewis (Grabban) had a good chance in the second half and we didn't deserve to lose the game but then we didn't deserve to win it and we haven't capitalised on the fact that we got two points away from home. I put Lewis up front in the second half and sometimes it comes off and sometimes it doesn't.

'We should have done better and got our wider players on the ball and should have got more quality in the box. We seemed a bit anxious at times and gave the ball away in bad areas and people were starting to snatch at stuff. If we'd moved up a bit better then, I would have thought, we'd have had more chances. We came a little bit dis-joined and people made mistakes that they don't usually make. I shall have to look at the goal again but we got caught on the back post with what was probably their only shot on target.

'If we'd picked up a point in a nil-nil I'd have been disappointed but you look at the results and we're still six points off the play-offs. It's another wasted opportunity and we can't keep wasting them because games are running out very quickly and that's another one gone.

'We can't moan about it and mope about it. It's happened and we've got to look at solutions of how we are going to better.'
