'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Scott 'we were excellent'

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott said he doesn't know how his team hadn't got all three points against Crewe at Don Valley tonight.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the one-all draw this evening, the Millers boss said, 'I thought we were excellent. We controlled the game from start to finish and we were excellent on the ball and I'm proud of the lads tonight.

'The amount of chances we had that went just over, or wide, or got blocked on the line I don't know how we haven't won. We could have had two penalties and we out-passed a team tonight who everyone lauds as being the best footballing side. We made a few mistakes on the ball but, to be honest, there was only one team who looked like winning it from the start. I think they only had one attempt in the second half and we pressed them and got the ball back and everyone wanted the ball tonight. We got crosses in the box but just couldn't get it over the line again, which has been the story of our home form this year.

'We were the architects of our own downfall really with their goal. It was a strong back pass to Rhys (Taylor) but he's got to put some height on it, even if it goes out for a throw-in. So it was disappointing from that respect but the response that we got from the players was terrific. To go a goal down you think, 'here we go again' after we'd dominated the play but they stuck at it and we told them, at half-time, to just keep doing the same thing.

'We did everything we could to win the game and I don't think anyone who was here today can say that we didn't deserve to win. But, again we come away saying 'what if?'

'There's still stuff to work on but, hey, we are a league two side and league two players make mistakes but I actually enjoyed watching that today and the players said they enjoyed it too. I hope our fans enjoyed watching it and the missing ingredient is the win and we are desperate to give the fans that. But, they can see that we are giving everything to try and win the games and I think if they are honest in their assessment then they will see that we did everything but that today.

'It's our eleventh draw this season and that's one of the reason why we aren't in the top seven.'

I wonder why he thought some of the fans were booing at half-time?
