'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Scott 'everyone contributed'

Join The Vital Debate

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott started with a similar formation to the one played on Tuesday night but then decided to change it.

After the one-nil win at Don Valley today, he explained to Radio Sheffield, why.

'The two central midfield players for Plymouth are two experienced players and there wasn`t many spaces. The pitch is very dry and very bobbly after the two weeks of rugby, which has really told from where it was two weeks ago.

'I thought we`d got into some good areas but were lacking a bit of pace and it was a case of we needed a win. So, we got Evo (Gareth Evans) on who did well and we kept Grabs (Lewis Grabban) on and took Prings (Ben Pringle) off and I know the crowd weren`t happy with it but he`d played on Tuesday and was feeling the effects of it and we need him for this Tuesday as well.`

Speaking about Gareth Evans who made his first appearance today since January, due to injury, and made the run that got the Millers the penalty and Scott said, 'That`s what he does and I think it`s what highlights what I`ve said about us 'nearly being there`. We`ve missed him and having him back is a big plus for us which showed today. He gives us an outlet with his pace, his power and set-pieces as well.

'Everyone contributed today but we should have scored more at the end.`
