RUFC - Scott 'Mullins has been outstanding'

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott is hoping that the new stadium will help lure good players to the club.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after Johnny Mullins had signed a new two year deal with the Millers, Scott said, 'We knew what a good player he was but was missing for the first part of the season but he came back and found his feet. Since he`s been back and been one hundred per cent match fit, he`s been outstanding.

'Whoever he`s played with he affects them. He`s good in the air and organises well and he`s the type of player we want to build the club round.

'Signing a new contract, this is the first one we can really say that the new stadium has attracted because I`m sure there would have been interest from other clubs in John but the ambitions here are a massive pull for him. He was out of contract at the end of the season and being over twenty-four he could have gone on a free transfer and it was important that we got him tied up before the summer. We believe it`s a good deal all round and anyone I`ve spoken to about centre-halves puts him in the top two or three in the league. I rate him higher than that. He can play at a much higher level and he`s signed here because he knows there is a good chance of him doing that.`
