RUFC - Millers Community Trust Win Award

RUFC - Millers Community Trust Win Award

Rotherham United  Community Sport Trust  have won the Coca-Cola Community Club of the Year Award.

The Community Sport Trust works in some of the most disadvantaged areas of town delivering a wide range of activities across the four key themes that reflects needs of the diverse communities of Rotherham that it serves. The ''United 4 Communities'  scheme engaged the different sections of the community in sporting and cultural activities such as football and dance sessions, Kick It Out activity and a schools project, aiming to bring people together and foster strong community links.

Millers Chairman, Tony Stewart and Head of Community, Jamie Noble collect the award at the Gala Ceremony at The Brewery in London, with Mr Stewart telling the Official Site, 'This is a fantastic achievement for the football club. Credit must go to Jamie and his team for the wonderful work they do in the local community.  We are thrilled and honoured that this work has been recognised with this prestigious award.

' The club has beaten off competition from every other Football League club in this country which gives me a feeling of great pride, and is another example of our continued development as we prepare to move into the New York Stadium next season.'

Jamie Noble added, 't was a fantastic feeling and a tremendous honour to collect this award, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank my staff who have worked tirelessly to make Rotherham United's community projects such a roaring success. We couldn't have done this without the support of the council leader Roger Stone, and Mahroof Hussain whose backing has been integral in helping us become what we are today.'
