RUFC - Scott 'Sam will be a big boost'

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott says that Southampton think a lot of latest loan signing, Sam Hoskins

Speaking to MillersPlayer after all the paperwork had been sorted today, Scott said, 'He's sharp, quick and likes to score a goal, runs well with the ball and is quite sharp in the box. He's played for the Reserves at Southampton and has also been involved in the Carling Cup for them and I know that Nigel Adkins and Andy Crosby think a lot of him. We've watched him a few times and we think he's just got that something different to what we've got already.'

Saying that, although the nineteen year old is a striker, he will adapt to playing with the Millers, Scott said, 'He can play in any of the positions we've got available up top, but the main thing is that he's a goal scorer and has got pace. Another good thing is that he's match fit and has played several games in the last few weeks. We've been watching him for several months and he's shown good signs every time we've seen him on a regular basis and he was really keen to come up and be involved and help us out.

'Southampton have got a very good centre down there and their structure is excellent. They have good facilities with a good catchment area and they are a massive club and we are grateful that they are allowing him to come to us. This is an opportunity for Sam to show them what he can next year.'

Asked if the interest in Shaun Harrad had now waned, Scott said, 'It was a case with the games coming thick and fast we couldn't wait another two or three weeks for Shaun and the indication was that Bury wanted to keep him. So we couldn't dally and we thought that Sam's introduction would be a big boost for us.'
