Rotherham United's latest loanee, Sam Hoskins said he is happy to be on board, as he joins the Millers until the end of the season from Championship side Southampton.

Speaking to MillersPlayer the nineteen year old said he knew a week ago that the Millers wanted him, 'After a reserve game for Southampton my Manager said that a couple of clubs were interested, although, at the time I didn't know who they were but on Monday there was a phone call from the Manager here and something was sorted out.

'I know Rotherham are a good club and has a good history and it's good to get experience by coming up North and getting away from home and having to fend for myself. So it's a good all round experience. It's good playing reserve team football but you can't really beat first team football.'

Asked about what he's expecting from League Two, Sam said, 'I'm looking forward to it and want as much time on the pitch as possible. I know it's going to be more physical that what I'm used to and I know I'll get kicked here, there and everywhere, but I'm up for the challenge.

'At the moment I know I won't get a sniff with Southampton because everyone is doing so well but the more experience I get here I think I'll be ready to go back and play at a higher level and prove myself there.'

Asked what he will bring to the Millers, Sam said, 'I'm a nippy striker and if I get the chance I will put the ball in the net. I'm a workhorse and work hard for the team and hopefully I can come and do a job here. I know Rotherham are sort of mid-table but if we can get a few wins we can be pushing for the play-offs so if I can help out there it will be brilliant.'
