RUFC - Evans knackered but delighted

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott is delighted to have winger Gareth Evans back after a long spell out with injury.

And the twenty-three year old is pleased to be back playing too. He played the second half of the win last Saturday against Plymouth and the whole game on Tuesday night against Torquay, although afterwards he probably thinks he was on too long.

Speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser, the former Macclesfield Town said, 'I was told I was going to get an hour on Tuesday and in the second half the gaffer was asking how I was and I said I was alright. But I think that was just enthusiasm because I was knackered after about an hour and in the end I was just glad to get through the ninety minutes. I`ve waited a long time to do that and I`ve done it injury free. The only real problem is the tiredness and I think I played twenty minutes too long.

'It`s a case of making up for lost time and trying to play as much football as I can. I`m just glad I`m going to be fit for this weekend.

'If we can win at Oxford then it takes the gap down to two points and puts pressure on them. Three points would have been nice on Tuesday but we can`t be too down about it because we played well. We`ve got to take that tempo into the weekend and hopefully get a bit of the rub of the green. They didn`t get a good result at Bradford last week and their supporters will be anxious they do well tomorrow but that can go against you and put too much pressure on you. Hopefully we can go there and play on that.`
