RUFC - Millers want Evans to sign new contract

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott has said today that they would like to offer winger, Gareth Evans a new deal at the club.

Gareth had triggered a clause in his contract where he will be offered a new contract and Millers Manager, Andy Scott explained to MillersPlayer today, what is happening.
'He has a cause in his contract that says he has to be offered a new deal after a certain amount of games,' Scott said. 'We spoken to him and his agent and said that we want to keep him. It's now a case of negotiating with Evo because it's a new contract and not an extension of the old one and we are hopeful that we can come to some agreement. It's just a case of sitting down together and I left a message for his agent again yesterday to try and chase up things and see where we are with it and we are hoping to get news of it in the next few days to see if there's an indication that he wants to sign.
'Jason Taylor has got a different clause in his contract which he's triggered although he hasn't signed it yet. It's just a case of getting it drawn up. There's no particular hurry and it will be another year on his contract.

'We've told the others that we won't be talking contracts until the end of the season only the ones who are triggering clauses in their contracts which is something we have to do. No one else will be spoken to because we need to know where we are and to concentrate on the games and it's a case of proving their worth and me assessing if they are capable of being involved next year.'
