RUFC - Are we surprised at Scott's departure?

Rotherham United are on the look out for a new Manager after Andy Scott was shown the door yesterday afternoon.

With names like Peter Reid, Brian Laws, Phil Brown and Jose Mourinho (though I rather think he might say no!) the one that seems to be the fans favourite at the moment is ex player and Manager, Mark Robins.

Chairman, Tony Stewart gave the impression in an interview yesterday evening that he wanted someone in asap and told Les Payne of The Star, (who himself admitted to being 'surprised` at Scott`s departure), 'We have to be open minded and I will look at everybody, including Mark Robins.`

Les Payne feels that the sacking, let`s call it what it is, will have come as a surprise to Scott as the former Brentford man had been having discussions with the clubs 'hierarchy` about the type of player he wanted at the club next season and had been talking to colleagues in his office at 2.30pm yesterday. By 4.00pm he was on his way out.

Speaking about Scott, Mr Stewart said, 'He was always professional, very determined and very concise and I know he`s tried his hardest. But I`ve been here for four years and it`s my ambition to get this club in the Championship. With a new stadium the move was the right one to make.`

Was it the right decision at the right time? Should he have gone earlier? Should the Chairman have waited until the end of the season?
