'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - View from the Opposition - Macclesfield

Rotherham United`s caretaker boss, Darren Patterson was proud of his team and their response on Tuesday night that led to them winning four-two at Don Valley.

Meanwhile, new Manager, Brian Horton also thought his Macclesfield side showed a lot of spirit throughout the game.

Speaking to the Silkmen`s Official Site after the game on Tuesday, Horton, who was appointed for his second spell in charge at Moss Rose this week, said, 'The second goal was always going to be very important and even though they got it, I thought we showed a lot of spirit to fight back into the game. I thought the third goal was a poor one to concede as we gave him far too much room, got ourselves back into the game again and then were sloppy again for the fourth which our lads are adamant that he was offside. But, we can`t complain too much because someone should have put it in the stands.

'I haven`t had much time to work with them yet and it isn`t long until our next game, though, that can be a good thing.

'We started with a 4-4-2, but lost Tremarco which threw us a bit, but I think we still caused them a few problems, especially with set pieces. We need character in the side and when we moved to the three up front, it was a lack of discipline that caused us problems.`
