'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Harrison wants new man in asap

Rotherham United defender, Danny Harrison says that the last couple of weeks have been difficult.

Speaking to MillersPlayer the former Tranmere player said, 'It`s always difficult when a manager goes. Patto (Darren Patterson) came in with the help of Warney (Paul Warne) and Darren Sarll and we`ve tried to get on with it the best we can.

'It`s always in the background who`s going to be coming here but, ultimately, we`ve just got to carry on as normal. This is a similar situation to what happened last year with Ronnie and whoever comes in will have five or six weeks to assess the squad and see who fits into his plans for next year. I think a lot of us are thinking the sooner the better because we`ve got to try and impress him and put our case forward for getting extensions to our contracts in a short space of time. There`s also lads who will be playing for places next year so it`s an exciting time.

'With a new manager on the horizon everyone is going to do the best they can, whether he`s there watching or he`ll see a DVD of the game. There`s a lot to play for and if it`s Patto`s last game we want to do well for him.'

Asked if anything had changed since Andy Scott`s departure, Danny said, 'With Patto being part of the previous manager`s staff there are things that have stayed the same but he`s also tried to bring in his own style of management. But really it`s just cracking on until we know otherwise.

'All the lads respect the people in charge and we are all pulling in the right direction. We all want to do well together so it would be silly not to carry on as normal.`

Speaking about the two games since Scott left, the twenty-nine year old said, 'Macclesfield was a must win game to keep any sort of hopes alive. Crawley was always going to be a difficult game and it`s a tough place to go and the first half was encouraging. It was the goal at the end of the first half that killed us then they ran away a bit with it second half.

'If we play anything like we are capable of against Hereford, who are fighting for their lives, we should come away with a result.`
