'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Patto 'we are focussed on winning'

Rotherham United's Caretaker Manager, Darren Patterson says the players have been magnificent this week.

Speaking to MillersPlayer he said that they have barred all talk of 'what's happening, what's going on' from the training ground which most people have adhered to.

'We've trained slightly differently this week,' Patto said, 'and I'm looking for the players to carry that out on Saturday. And, if they do that, then we've got a very good chance of winning the game.

'Myself and Andy (Scott) train very similarly but I've tweaked just a few little things to make a change. Like anybody would do we've freshened things up.

'We are just going to make sure that everybody is focussed on winning. It's important for us that we win at home. We've got a good crowd, we're going into a new stadium and we appreciate that fans come from all over to Sheffield to back us and we know the stadium isn't one with most atmosphere and we'd like to give our fans something so they can get up and cheer us.

'Football is about enjoying life and enjoying football, especially what's happened recently. Anyone who doesn't enjoy it and worries about the pressure of it shouldn't be involved.'

Speaking about loanee, Sam Hoskins from Southampton, Patto said, 'Sam has done ever so well. He's got bigger and stronger in training and he understands that this level of football is different to the level he's used to playing. He's a smashing kid and very bright and he wants to learn and do well. There's a distinct possibility that he will be involved tomorrow. Him and Kieron (Cadogan) have the right attitude and I hope they've got a bright future in the game. I've worked a lot with Youth and these two are first class. If they've had a great game they want to know how to make it better if they've had a poor game they don't worry about it. They knuckle down and listen and are terrific kids who are bright and respectful young men and work well which, although doesn't guarantee them a future, it bodes well for them.'
