RUFC - Stewart 'Evans - a gentleman off the pitch'

Rotherham United Chairman, Tony Stewart has told new Manager, Steve Evans, that he will have a bigger budget to work with here than he did at Crawley.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield, Mr Stewart said that one of the strong points of Evans joining the Millers was that he will be able to do more with the club.

'The board all thought he was the man for the job.` Mr Stewart said, 'He`s the man of the moment. We spoke to him and saw how deep-thinking and professional he is. We saw he had the passion and the drive and lots of motivation and we were quite infected by that. It was the board`s unanimous view that he was head and shoulders the best one of the nine that we interviewed. This is the man to take Rotherham to the next stage.

'He is someone who is fiercely driven - he`s a gentleman off the pitch but really passionate. He gets agitated on the sidelines but he gets results and that`s what we want at this football club.

'The guy has come here to win games and I'm sure that by the end of September we'll have more fans loving him than hating him.`
