RUFC - Evans issues invite to fans

Rotherham United Manager, Steve Evans has issued an invitation to the fans to go and watch the squad train.

Gone are the fences that stopped people getting near the players on the training pitch and after the new manager had taken his first training session, he told MillersPlayer, 'We worked on a few phases today and tried to increase the tempo slightly. The players took part in the training session with a real togetherness and effort and almost embraced what we were trying to do.'

Speaking about the fans that were at the training session on Thursday, Evans said, 'There is no way in the world that people who love Rotherham United should be looking through a fence. We've got the fans in and they've had a cup of tea and watched the lads train. They are the supporters and our lifeline and they want to feel valued as much as we want to. Only all being together can we be successful.

'I've told the players to embrace those supporters and talk to them. If they want to have a ten minute chat with you then do so because they love you because you are a Rotherham United player or member of staff.

'Any supporter is welcome to come and watch us train so come and see us, come and join us.'

Nice to hear that we are welcome. I always felt Andy was a bit "remote" from the fans and the community
