'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Sam hoping to impress Saints boss

Rotherham United loanee, Sam Hoskins has set his sights at playing in the Premiership.

On loan from Southampton, the nineteen year old, scored his first senior goal on Good Friday to give the Millers all three points at Wimbledon where it was difficult to know who was more excited, Hoskins or fellow striker Alex Revell who almost smothered him with his celebration!

Speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser after the game, Sam said, 'I was top scorer for the Youth team when I was a first and second year scholar at Southampton and I think I`m leading scorer in the Reserves. But the main thing is getting first team football. I want to be pushing towards a first team and if I can do it here then hopefully I can go back to Southampton and prove myself there.

'But the strikers down there are on fire and I`m not going to be able to get near them at the moment. But, if I can prove myself at this level and maybe go out on loan again and get more experience, do well and show the gaffer (Nigel Adkins) that I`m ready for his squad.

'At the moment its all about my development and we will have to see how ready the manager thinks I am. And, at the moment, all I can do is try and score goals for Rotherham.`

Seems a very confident young man when he`s on the pitch does young Sam and also seems to have his head screwed on the right way. I`d love to see him get, maybe, a season long loan with the Millers next year.
