RUFC - Reserves end with a win

Rotherham United Reserves 3 Gateshead Reserves 0

Rotherham United Reserves won their last game of the season by three goals to nil this afternoon at Parkgate.

The Millers were always on top and scored two early goals, the first after Sam Wood brought down a well placed ball on the edge of the box and fed it to Sam Hoskins who slotted home under Gateshead 'keeper, Paul Farman and just two minutes later Hoskins flicked the ball over a defenders head for Danny Harrison to put in from close range. Mark Bradley, Paul Warne and Kieron Cadogan all went close before the break for the home side.

In the opening minutes of the second half Wood tested Farman twice, first from a free-kick and then from a header before getting a good ball through to Hoskins who put his shot wide. On the hour mark Hoskins skipped by Carl Magney and forced a great save from Farman before a Liam Royles cross found the head of Bradley which the Welsh international headed down for Harrison and the midfielder got his second and the Millers third of the afternoon. Hoskins got the ball in front of goal but fired over while Farman was forced to save well from Bradley before the visitors first shot of the half came from Martin Brittain from a free-kick that didn't bother Andy Warrington in the Millers' goal. Alec Denton, on for Warne, tried his luck before the end but, once again, Farman saved well.
