RUFC - Naylor Leaves

Rotherham United and defender Richard Naylor have parted company today.

Thirty-five year old Naylor joined the Millers in January from Doncaster Rovers and has been involved in just a handful of games since then, his last appearance being in February against Bristol Rovers at Don Valley.

Millers Manager, Steve Evans told the MillersPlayer that he and Richard had a long chat yesterday, saying, 'Richard has suffered with his knees, probably since he joined Rotherham, and we have released him this morning.

'He was signed for the right reasons because he's got fantastic experience and is a whole hearted defender. But, he knew last week in training that he was struggling again with his injury. We took him down to Aldershot and left him on the bench but we didn't see the mobility in him which we explained to him yesterday and he accepted it.

'He has conducted himself impeccably while I've been here like the true professional he is. If he's going to continue to play then he will be a major signing for a non-league club and we wish him every success from today onwards.'
