'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Schofield 'more to come from me'

Rotherham United midfielder, Danny Schofield wants to start a new next season and show the Millers fans his best form.

The thirty-two year old admits that he`s not played to his potential this season but now, with a year of League Two football behind him, Schofield has told The Advertiser that he will come back stronger.

'This has been a good move for me but I`ve not really performed quite as well as I can. I`m not too sure why. Is it because you are given less time on the ball at this level? Possibly. I have played centre-midfield a lot this season and that is a new position for me which I`ve been adapting to. During the off-season I`ll have a think about it and I`ll improve. There is definitely more to come.

'The gaffer (Steve Evans) demands hard work but wants to play football as well so hopefully that will suit me and I can play a big part next year. The gaffer wants passion, commitment, drive and fitness. I know that all managers demand that but he knows that that is what it takes for ability to come out on top. If we can put it all together then we`ll do well. I think he is still getting to know the players and we are still getting to know him but it`s a great place to be at the minute and there`s tons and tons of ambition here.

'Since he`s been here the gaffer has done a lot of work on being ruthless in the final third. I thought we were the better team for the first hour at Aldershot last week but we maybe stepped off it a bit. I don`t know whether a draw was a fair result because we played some decent stuff but that seems to have been the story of our season.`

Danny joined the Millers from Millwall last summer on a three-year deal and has been involved in thirty-seven times this season in all competitions, scoring his only goal in the five-two defeat by Bristol Rovers.
