RUFC - Troy wants to play for Rotherham

Rotherham United Manager, Steve Evans named his retained list on Monday and one name on there might have been a surprise to a few Millers fans.

Defender Troy Brown joined the Millers with glowing reports from Ipswich Town last summer being Andy Scott`s sixth signing. But, after quite a lot of hype around the young centre-back, Troy only featured six times before going out on loan to Aldershot Town.

Speaking to MillersPlayer about his retained list, Troy was mentioned to Steve Evans who said, 'Troy has been here and he's had a fitness test as well to see where he is. He's a smashing lad who wants to play for Rotherham United.

'Troy feels that he didn't get much of an opportunity here although he accepts he had one or two games where he was way below the standard you'd accept of someone wearing the shirt of this football club. He comes with a good pedigree from Ipswich Town with people speaking very highly about him. So, we'll give him the chance and if he's good enough he'll be involved if not he'll get different options.`

In interviews, former Manager, Andy Scott gave the impression that the twenty-one year old was suffering from home sickness but Steve Evans said, 'He had a little smile when I asked him if he was homesick, saying he'd never been homesick. We gave him an alternative and if he didn't want to come back then he could move on but he made it absolutely clear that he wanted to be part of it here.'

I never felt the lad got much of a chance - let's hope he takes this chance and becomes a great Miller
