RUFC - Chairman thanks Don Valley

Rotherham United Chairman, Tony Stewart, has thanked the people who run Don Valley Stadium for looking after us for the last four years.

Mr Stewart publically thanked everyone involved with the ground at the final game last Saturday and also paid tribute to Sheffield International Venues (SIV) which operates and runs Don Valley Stadium, at the clubs end of season dinner.

'After leaving Millmoor, having a home like Don Valley gave us a strong platform to plan for the club`s future,' Mr Stewart said. 'We cannot thank Don Valley enough for what they have done for us.

'Their help, support and assistance has been invaluable and enabled us to plan for our future. Without this base we might not having been going to a new stadium in a couple of months and I would like to thank Pat Smith and his team for what has been a fantastic four years at Don Valley. The professionalism and hospitality they have shown has been second to none and, without Don Valley, we simply would not be the club we are today. We cannot thank them enough for what they have done for us.

'It has left us with some very good playing memories too. We had some excellent cup victories there against Championship teams and it gave us a special night when we beat Aldershot to reach Wembley in the 2010 play-offs.'

The Millers move into the New York Stadium, back in Rotherham, next season.
