RUFC - Evans 'Kayode brings more than goals'

Rotherham United Manager, Steve Evans is confident that his latest signing, striker, Kayode Odejayi will score goals for the Millers.

Kayode has played for three league teams before joining the Millers - Barnsley Scunthorpe (loan) and Colchester - and he has scored twenty-five goals while at those clubs but the Millers boss says that if the striker was a prolific goalscorer then he wouldn't be at Rotherham next season.

Speaking to The Star, Evans said, 'With all the other things Kayode brings to the team, if he had lots of goals in him as well, then he`d be up in The Championship and at the top of it. But I`m confident he`ll score some goals with us.'

Odejayi scored five goals for Colchester last season, the last one being in October against Notts County but, despite the lack of goals, he was still voted the Player of the Year, which Evans says, is because of everything else he brings to the team.

'I watched him a few times last season,' Evans said, 'and on each occasion he was never less than a real handful for the opposition. He was powerful, quick, good in the air and I`d go as far as to say he was outstanding.

'He'll have all those attributes when he plays for Rotherham and I reckon we can get him in the box more. I am confident that he is going to get his share of goals and without losing what are his strengths.'
