RUFC - Millers Welcome Back Sharps

Rotherham United fans will be welcoming back an ex-player at the New York Stadium next season as former skipper, Ian Sharps returns.

With Sharps turning down a new deal with Shrewsbury speculation had been rife that he would be returning to the Millers and, after a successful medical today, that is exactly what will happen.

Sharpsy first joined the Millers in August 2006 and made over one hundred and eighty appearances both while at Millmoor and Don Valley, before moving to Shrewsbury Town in the summer of 2010. After helping Shrewsbury get promotion to League One, Ian rejected a new contract this week.

The last time the tall defender played for Rotherham was in the League Two play-off final at Wembley against Dagenham and Redbridge in May 2010.

Before coming to Millmoor, Ian was with Tranmere Rovers where his appearances numbered just under two hundred.

Ian has signed a two year deal with the Millers.
