RUFC - League Two Picture Now Complete

So that's it, officially the end of the 2011/12 season. And, after Crewe Alexandra beat Cheltenham in the League Two Play-Off at Wembley yesterday afternoon, we now know who the Millers will play next season.

Along with Crewe, Swindon Town, Shrewsbury Town and Crawley Town were promoted to League One and in their place will be Wycombe Wanderers, Chesterfield, Exeter City and Rochdale. Relegated from League Two were Hereford United and Macclesfield Town and Fleetwood Town and York City come up from the Conference to replace them.

Not having to make the long trip Hereford is quite a bonus but then having the even longer trip to Exeter is anything but! And, of course, we still have to travel to Plymouth and Torquay. So I think we will be clocking a lot of miles again this coming season.

League Two teams next season and the approximate mileage from Rotherham

Accrington Stanley - 50 miles
AFC Wimbledon - 145 miles
Aldershot - 185 miles
Barnet - 155 miles
Bradford City - 40 miles
Bristol Rovers - 175 miles
Burton Albion - 55 miles
Cheltenham Town - 140 miles
Chesterfield - 25 miles
Dagenham and Redbridge - 175 miles
Exeter - 205 miles
Fleetwood Town - 100 miles
Gillingham - 205 miles
Morecambe - 105 miles
Northampton Town - 100 miles
Oxford United - 140 miles
Plymouth Argyle - 290 miles
Port Vale - 60 miles
Rochdale - 55 miles
Rotherham United
Southend United - 195 miles
Torquay United - 270 miles
Wycombe Wanderers - 160 miles
York City - 55 miles

I'm hoping that the Football League, in their wisdom, will think about the travelling fans and that the shorter mileage games will be the Tuesday evening games. I, for one, don't fancy a trip to the likes of Torquay and Plymouth for a night match.

The fixture list is announced on Monday, 18th June 2012 at 9.00 am.
